WHAT ABOUT DIETS

When you start a regular exercise program, you might naturally look at how healthy your diet is, after all if you exercise regularly then your body needs the fuel to compensate, but it needs the right fuel. Your body needs vitamins and minerals that you might not get from those take aways. I started to eat a healthier diet without really thinking about it, I just found myself eating healthier foods. Diet that thrown about word…

Yes Diet is a much used word and it can have different meanings for different people. To me diet means the intake of food on a daily basis, which could be good healthy foods or not so healthy processed or fast foods. Which ever type you are eating on a daily basis constitutes your diet.

How the big D word is used in a negative way. Well you only have to pick up a magazine or switch the TV on and it won’t be long before there will be an advert about the next big weight loss diet. These adverts are directed at people who may be overweight and who might not be happy with their bodies. They promise you the earth and don’t really deliver any long term benefits to a great toned healthy body.

Its a shame for the people that buy into them because they will not work. They won’t work long term anyway, yes you might lose a few pounds in the first week and a few more the next but not long term. Why because sticking to a diet that you probably don’t like anyway is not something you will carry on for long. Before you know it you will slip back to your normal eating habits and you gain the weight you lost.

The first thing to do is forget about weight. Look at yourself naked in the mirror and decide if you are happy with what you see. If you want to trim that tummy, firm that chest and make that butt firm and pert again, then there is only one way you will do it long term. That is to combine a healthy diet (not starve yourself) with a good exercise program.

This is what I will look at in my next post. See you there!
