Exercise Weights

OUR NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS.

A new year and new beginnings, a fresh start to a fresh year. This is the mind set of a lot of us towards the end of December. We decide we are going to change something or a few things maybe about the way we live our life. It might be quitting smoking or cutting down on the amount of alcohol we consume, losing weight or getting fit or finding a new job with better prospects. There are numerous different things people want to change about their lives going into the new year.

Well in my experience I normally make a desicion that I am going to change something about my life between Christmas and New year. Leading up to and including Chrstmas and boxing day is always manic. So by the 27th I have drunk to much and eaten far to much and the button on my trousers won’t do up any more. The 27th, 28th and 29th always seems to be a bit of a lull period for me and this is when I decide that I am going to get fit.

I’ve just had a week of partying and I’ve got another party on New years eve and the few days between these events I in my wisdom have decided to get fit in the New Year. So easy to say isn’t it  “I am going to get fit” Its not so easy to carry it out though, especially the timing in which I have made the desicion. So the 1st January arrives and I am hung over, So I won’t start today. The 2nd January and I might start thinking about my Resolution. I decide that I will start on Monday.

Monday arrives and back to work, what a drag. After work straight down to the local Gym. Two hours later and I haven’t actually done any exercise or weights which is what i’m interested in, but I have forked out some money for membership and had an induction session to get me familiar with the equipment. So I’ve decided to go Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

The first week I do well, but spend most of the weekend recovering because I can hardly walk as my muscles hurt so much. The second week again I do well. The third week I might miss one day cause I was invited out that evening. Third week ok. By the fourth week I miss Monday and Tuesday because of the heavy weekend I had and that is where it starts to lapse and by the end of  January I’m living my life just the way I was last year with no exercise at all.

Does this sound familiar?  well in my next posts I will be sharing my new strategy for getting fit this year through exercise and weights.

Don’t Miss them!
