Exercise Program

THE RIGHT MIND SET

So we now know why most people don’t keep up there New Years Resolutions (in my opinion). So this is how I have decided to deal with it this year. I did not even think about changing anything in my life over the Festive Season. No not one thing, and when I was asked if I had any NYR’s my reply was not yet. What I did do though was put an entry into my new Diary on Sunday 11th January ‘ Think about NYR’.  This year I have waited for the Blues period to finish. For me this was around about the 10th January. I was then back into my normal mind set and on the 11th I read my Diary entry. I could now think about what I wanted to change in my life with a normal mind set, not an ‘I can do anything’ one.

TIMING

This is your timing, instead of making a decision at the wrong time you have made a decision at the right time, with the right mind set so giving you have a better chance of success.

I suggest you make a list of things you want to change about your life and then pick out the most important one or two, maybe three but you don’t want to try and change to much at once you need to focus, so don’t spread yourself to thin. My choice was easy it’s been the same for the last few years ‘Exercise and get fit’ I have an interest in weights so they will play a part in my exercise program. I guess you are interested in exercise and getting fit otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this.

So now we know the time is right and we know what we are going to change its time to plan.

PLANNING

First of all decide what sort of exercise you want to do. The best thing is to write a list. This is my list….

Weight training

Cycling

Aerobics

Walking

I might add more to this later as I progress. I might start these and decide I don’t like Cycling so I will drop it and try something different. So if you pick something and a few weeks down the line you don’t like it, that doesn’t matter this isn’t about what exercise you do it’s just the fact that you are doing exercise that matters.

Now decide what days you are going to exercise, this is important you need to make sure you have the time to exercise. Personally I have decided to do some kind of exercise for 30 minutes Monday, Wednesday and Friday. What ever days you decide and how ever long your exercise sessions are put them in your diary.

EXERCISE ROUTINE

This is important too, you need an exercise routine. You’ve made your plan so you know what sort of exercise you are going to do and you’ve set your days so you know when you are going to exercise. Now you need to make a list of exercises, say you were going to do Aerobics you would need to have a list of movements within your routine. If you were going to do weights then you would need to have a list of different movements for that. Also with these you need to categorise them in body parts so that the whole of your body is getting a workout.

If you are going to Jog, Walk or cycle then there is not any variation except maybe the speed perhaps.

So you might want to try it the way I am or you might do it different, either way I wish you every success. I will keep you posted of my progress so check back to see how I am doing.
