Exercise Routine

THE STRATEGY

Ok here we are over half way through January. Did you make any New Years resolutions and if so have you kept them up to this point. If you have then well done keep it up. If you haven’t then you are like I have been on all previous years that I have made New Year Resolutions. I start off with good intentions, really enthusiastic, full of energy and then by the end of January have lost my enthusiasm and energy, slowed down to a snails pace and gone back to last years lifestyle. Well not this time!  Oh no!  This year it is going to be different!

Famous last words hey. Right OK, the reason it’s going to be different this year is because I am approaching it in a different way. So what will be different this time? Well lets just recap, I usually make my New Year Resolution over the Christmas period often between Christmas and New, year when there is that few days where there is a bit of a lull. Some of you may have even made your Resolutions on New Years Eve while discussing it with friends over many alcoholic beverages, I know I have done this in the past. I have even forgotten that I made any until I get reminded by a friend.

Now the reason this doesn’t work is because we are not in the right frame of mind during the festive season. Why? Because the festive season is normally a time of enjoyment, we see Family and Friends that we might not have seen for a while. We have a few days quality time with our families. So our spirits are high we feel good we are enjoying ourselves and suddenly we feel we can achieve anything. So when the Resolution subject comes up we make decisions based on a Holiday mind set.

So when its all over and we are back at work and back to the every day hustle and bustle of our daily lives, what happens? Well we come back down to earth with a bump. The few days or week or even 2 weeks we have just enjoyed with our families seems like a distant memory. Now something happens with that positive ‘I can do anything’ mind set we experienced. It becomes negative and you feel depressed about having to go back to work. Now this can take a few weeks to get back to your normal mind set.

So that said, Oh and by the way this is only my opinion I am not a Psychologist. But that said, How are we supposed to change anything in our lives successfully when we have the blues, in my mind it isn’t going to happen. Which is why most people have given up on there New Year Resolutions by the middle of January.

If you are like me and your New years Resolution is to get fit and healthy this year then lets do this together.
