Lifting Weights
THE RIGHT WAY
The correct techniques are very important when weight training so you reap the right benefits from your workouts, but more importantly that you do not injure yourself. There are many injuries you could suffer such as sprains, dislocations and even fractures if you do not use the correct techniques when lifting weights.
Weight training is such a good form of exercise and has benefits such as increasing your strength, muscle toning, burning fat, and even improving bone density, but only when done correctly. Breathing is also part of the correct technique you should always breathe out when lifting the weight and then breathe in as you lower the weight. Holding your breathe can be dangerous.
So if you are thinking about starting a weight training program as part of your exercise routine then before you lift any weights you should get checked out by your Doctor.
Once you have seen your Doctor, if he has given you the go ahead to start a weight training program, then your next port of call is the gym. Now I know that some people will not be joining a gym as they might want to workout at home. It is still worth going to the gym, not to join but to book an induction session. Most good gym’s will let you book an induction session with a personal trainer, who will be able to show you through the different equipment (including free weights) and show you the exercises and how to perform them. They may even give you some advice on an exercise program that would be best for your own needs.
This is definitely worth doing because a least you will know when you start lifting weights that you are doing it properly therefore reducing your chance of injury and achieving the right results.
You need to be looking at your muscles in their groups which are: Starting from the top Shoulders, Chest, back, Arms, abs and legs. There are different exercise for each group of muscles.
So remember exercise the right way and stay safe and enjoy your workouts.
In my next posts I will be showing you some exercises you can do for these different muscle groups.
