Motivation

ITS HARD TO STAY MOTIVATED

Motivation is a big deal when it comes to working out on a regular basis. This is why loads of people start a big get fit and healthy campaign at the beginning of a new year, they are motivated. But as soon as the festive season is over and normal life takes hold of us once again, it is hard to stay motivated.

This is why a large percentage of these people don’t see their get fit and healthy campaign last beyond January. So to keep up what we start at the beginning of the year we have to some how stay motivated if we want to succeed. This goes for all things in life from a health kick to our careers. So how do we do this ?

First of all you need a reason, then you need your destination. Between the two of these you need your goals, both short term and long term.

Lets take a quick example of a career version of achieving what we want by self motivation. Say you work for a newspaper and your job is in the office, not very well paid but with prospects.

My Reason

What is my reason to work in the first place ? I want to earn a high income so I can gain financial security and enjoy the things in life I want to enjoy, when I want to enjoy them. Like a nice house, cars and holidays. This is my reason for working and a pretty good one.

My Destination

Where do I want to end up ? To retire at a reasonably young age, say 50 and have enough money to enjoy my retirement the way I want to.

My short Term Goal

What is my first step to achieving this ? To progress from my current job position to junior journalist by the end of next year.

My Next short Term Goal

Once I have achieved this, whats next ? To progress to senior Journalist within the next 2 years.

This would go on in steps until I have reach my my long term goal.

My Long Term Goal

Where will my steps be taking me ? To chief editor.

Without my reason, goals and destination how would I achieve my dream of being financially secure for my retirement. I wouldn’t know where I was going or How I was going to get there.

This works for anything that you want to achieve in your life, how am I going to work it for keeping motivated to my exercise program.
