Muscle Gaining

Aspiring Bodybuilders who train with weights want muscle and who can blame them, that’s what it’s all about right. The trouble is there is so much conflicting information on how to gain muscle, if you read several different mags you will probably get several different methods whether it’s how many reps or sets to do or what you should be eating and how much.

The hardest people to gain muscle are those that were given genetically the wrong kind of body for building muscle mass, they are referred to as being Ectomorphic having long and thin limbs and muscles with a low fat storage, basically they are naturally thin. So to gain muscle mass is hard for this body type and they have got to work a lot harder at it than a Mesomorphic body type who finds it the easiest to Gain Muscle Mass.

Bulking up has always seemed to be the answer to gaining weight for the hard gainers, but even then they still find it hard to gain and there is the chance of putting on more fat than muscle. Bulking up which is basically consuming more calories by eating more can obviously help in gaining weight. But should it be done for long periods of time.

Bulking can be done in cycles where a couple of weeks is spent consuming more food than normal and then cutting back to normal calorie intake. What this will do is put the body in the best position to capitalize on the few weeks of extra calories. The hard training at the end of the couple of weeks bulking period will utilize the extra calories more efficiently and turn a higher percentage into muscle. After a few more weeks you can then start the bulking cycle again, this has got to be easier for the body to deal with efficiently rather than bulking for a long period of time where there is a higher chance of gaining more fat than muscle.

As mentioned at the beginning there are different methods of all things weight training that different people or Trainers will tell us that work the best and the reason for this is that we are all different, which means what works for one person may not work for another. The shorter bulking cycle may not work for everyone, but if you have tried loads of other methods that haven’t worked then may be this might be worth a go. Weight training and building muscle is an experiment for every individual, we can try many different approaches before we find the one that works best.
