Resistance Bands
EXERCISING WITH RESISTANCE BANDS
As I have already mentioned resistance bands in a few earlier posts I thought it would be a good idea to explained a little more about them, whether they are any good or not and if you really can get a good work out using them.
Free weights are my favourite for a work out but some people don’t like them, others use weight machines for their work outs. I have nothing against weight machines and have used them I just prefer free weights. But what about resistance bands? I have used them and yes you can get a good work out using them. They do have two advantages over free weights and machines, they are cheap in comparison and you can travel with them. By this I don’t mean they will keep you company whilst you are traveling. But they are easy to pack in your case, so if you are away on business you won’t miss out on your work outs.
Resistance bands can be used as a work out on their own or along side your normal weight training exercise to add a bit of variety. They are ideal for beginners of more advanced individuals who have trained for years. You can do the same type of exercises with resistance bands as you would free weights. Lets give an example take the bicep curl, with the resistance band you would stand on one end and grip the other end in your hand and perform the curl as you would with free weights. The bands come with different resistance levels, I think the heavier the band the more resistance it gives. So its just the same as the different types of weight you can use with free weights.
You can buy resistance bands in packs so you get a variety of levels of resistance for your different muscle groups. Any good sports store should stock a variety of bands. They are cheap but how much you spend depends on what combination of bands you go for. All I would say is go for quality its worth it in the long run.
I hope this has been helpful to any one who is not sure about resistance bands. So if you don’t want to invest in a gym membership yet or buy your own weights and bench then these could be for you.
So the conclusion is that they will give you a good work out and are cheap to buy and versatile. So definitely not one to rule out, good luck and happy training. I have had a look around for a good supplier of quality resistance bands and am pleased to say I have found a great company who do a good selecton of resistance bands, so check them out and click here.
