The thing about squats is that most people that start out exercising with weights don’t realise how important this exercise is for muscle building. Squats really are one of the best overall muscle building exercises that you can do in your workout routine.
So you have got to include this great exercise in your exercise program. You see there is no other weight training exercise that will achieve a more total body improvement. The squat on face value could be seen as a leg exercise for building those thighs. After all it is the legs that are doing all the work.
While it is true that the squat does work the legs, it also works the glutes (Butt), back, abs and a variety of other smaller groups of muscles. The squat is great for our core muscle groups and is very effective in building strength and muscle size.
If you want to develop your body then there is no other weight training exercise that will give you such great results, it is a must in any weight training routine. If you are new to weight training it is essential that you learn the right technique for this top training exercise.
It is sometimes best to use the weight machine (smith machine) to start with, before moving onto barbels or dumbbells, to get the right technique from the off. Use light weights to start with until you know you are performing the exercise right before you start to pack on the weight. Do not be tempted to lift to much weight before you have the technique right, this will only lead to injury. Unfortunately far to often you see people trying to look good by packing on the weights and then struggling to do the squat in the right form, putting to much strain on their backs.
The back is not a good part of the body to get an injury. If you want results, then start squatting and you will see results, but technique is everything.
