Vitamins what are they good for and where do we get them ? I have put together a simple list of the most common vitamins that our bodies need and some of the foods where they will be found….

Vitamin A is good for… Health eyes and bone growth. You can find Vitamin A in… eggs, fish, carrots, pumpkins and friuts such as apples, grapes, peaches and pineapple.

Vitamin B. There are several vitamin B’s and they are good for our metabolism, converting foods into energy and helping the production of red blood cells also good for skin and breaking down fatty acids. You can find the B’s in… whole grains, lean meats, oranges, fish, bananas, mushrooms, leafy green veg, potatoes and dates.

Vitamin C is good for making the protein collagen which helps hold our joints together and found in teeth, bones, tendons and blood vessels. C is also good for our imune system and works in our bodies like an anti-oxident. You can find the C’s in… Oranges, pineapples, grapes, strawberries, peaches, apples, broccoli, onions and radishes.

Vitamin D is good for normal bone growth and helps calcium and phosphorus. You can find the D’s in… fish like tuna, herring, salmon and sardines. Also in cod liver oil and margerine.

Vitamin E is an anti-oxident that protects our body cells and helps keep our red blood cells normal. You can find the E’s in… Wheat germ, whole grains, nuts and spinach.

Vitamin H is Known as Biotin and is actually one of the B vitamin complex group. It is used for cell growth and metabolism of fats and proteins. It also helps in maintaining a steady blood sugar level.You can find the H’s in… Nuts, Legumes, spinach, chicken, cauliflower and eggs.

Vitamin K is helpful in the clotting of blood. You can find the K’s in leafy green vegtables, cheese and green tea.

This is a basic guide to these Vitamins and you will find them in other foods not mentioned here but this does give you a general idea if you are interested in what the vitamins do and where to get them.
