Weights
MY OWN WEIGHTS
![]()
Yes thats right I have got my own weights, so I am finished with the household items I was using for my workouts. I am enjoying weight training and it has become part of my weekly routine a part of my life, so I decided to invest in some weights.
First off I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so before I rushed down to the sports shop I decided to ask around locally to see if anyone had some weights or other exercise equipment just sitting in their garage not used anymore. Lucky for me a friend of a friend of a friend did have some weights his son had bought several years ago that he only used a few times and have sat around ever since. They consisted of a barbell, 2 dumbells and some assorted size weights ranging from 0.5kg to 25kg and I offered him $50 for them and the deal was done.
So how great was that, I have my own set of weights. Since I got these I have found it easier to train as you can custom the weight to your muscle groups. What I mean by this is with my 2 heavy door stops to start with Bicep Curls were ok I could do the reps comfortably but the Tricep Extensions weren’t so easy with the same weight. So now I can use the weight to the muscle so to speak and Increase as the muscle conquers that weight. I still don’t want to go down the road of muscle mass and I am not going to but some mucsles were getting a harder workout than others using the same weights.
So if you are enjoying weights as part of your exercise programs and you are using what you can around the house for those weights. I would seriously consider getting yourself a set of weights when you can afford it as it does add a lot more scope to your workouts. But make sure you enjoy this kind of exercise before you commit your hard earned cash to purchasing a set of weights or any other kind of exercise equipment.
Instead of buying yourself a set of weights or any other exercise equipment you might want to join a Gym so you have got all the equipment you need to hand. But again make sure you are enjoying the workout experience and that you want to carry on working out for at least the next year. Gym memberships are expensive, so if you aren’t committed 100% to this then you would be wasting your money.
Remember if you are going to buy weights or other exercise equipment see if you can get somebodies unwanted stuff before you shell out for new stuff.
Good Luck!
